Stores sometimes call this a promo code, but it is also known as a promotional code, coupon code or discount code. If you’re having any trouble, try following our illustrated guide.

How do I print a physical coupon to take into a store?

If a coupon is meant to be printed, it will be marked as a “printable coupon.” Another clue is that these usually have bar codes and color pictures. Otherwise, it’s probably a coupon code or other offer that is designed to be used online.

To print a coupon, click the green “Print” button that appears next to the coupon. The rules around the use of in-store coupons vary from store to store—sometimes you only need to quote the code, but most of the time, a printed copy is required. It’s probably best to print it out if you have access to a printer.
A coupon code I found on the site did not work. What’s the deal?

First, that really stinks. This bums us out too.

Second, the great majority of offers on couponappa are submitted by users like you and unfortunately, sometimes they don’t work. All offers can be rated, so if a code doesn’t work, do your fellow shoppers a favor and click the thumbs-down button next to the coupon.

We also strongly advise that you check that any offers, discounts or coupons have been applied before you complete a purchase online.

How do I vote on a coupon?

Next to every success-rating box, you will find a little gray thumbs-up or thumbs-down. If the coupon worked, let us know with a thumbs-up. And then make sure to share what you bought and how much you saved. If the offer didn’t work, please use the thumbs down. When you vote, you’re helping fellow savers find our best offers even faster while also ensuring the coupons that do not work drop off the page entirely.

What is “percent success”?

Like most things on couponappa, we rely on users like you to tell us which offers work the best. The “percent success” is based on the number of people who gave this offer a thumbs-up vote—if an offer saves you money, let us know!

Where does the average savings come from?

Once you tell us an offer works by giving it a thumbs-up, the percentage is calculated. We then take that number and put it in our super-high-tech math machine and … presto! … the average savings is calculated.
